Lenz Arts - Framing -> Framekits

Nielsen Framekits offer the flexibility and appearance of a custom frame at a ready-made price! Framekit packages include one pair of frame sides of a given length. Two packages make one frame. Packages include all required assembly hardware. Wire is not included.

Framekits are available in sizes from 5" up to 40" in one inch increments, plus 8-1/2" is also available. Each Framekit is cut with a little "allowance," about an 1/16" bigger than the labeled size to allow for easy assembly.

Profiles


5 (Round Top)	11 (Flat Top)	Accents (Flat Top)

Framekits are available in one of three profiles, either #5, #11, or Accents. Please note the depth that each frame can accomodate. Often times, a thinner backing board with an 1/8" thickness is appropriate, depending on the number of mats and type of glazing material you decide to use. Framekits will not fit a standard size stretcher bar such as those used on painted canvases.

All the colors have a high polish, except Matte Black, Black (Painted), and German Silver which have matte finishes. Contrast Grey in certain light can almost appear black, but is an medium-dark anodized grey, and works quite well with black and white photos. All finishes are very durable anodized finishes, except the Black (Painted) which can chip if mishandled.

Silver and Gold are available in both #5 and #11 profiles. Contrast Grey and Anodic Black are available in the #5 profile, Matte Black is available in the #11 profile. German Silver and Black (Painted) are available in the Accents profile.

Quality

The finish on a Framekit is of equal quality to that of Nielsen's professional framing line of highly respected mouldings. Framekits are less expensive by virtue of the volume that are manufactured plus they are extruded with slightly thinner walls than that of Nielsen's professional framing mouldings. Their strength, however, is more than adequate for almost all applications. (If you are going to be dropping them on a repeated basis, that may be another story!)
